INTERIOR design photography / BARZOTTI WOODWORKING

Barzotti Woodworking, based in Guelph, Ontario, is known for its craftsmanship, material quality, and custom millwork. This project documents two custom home builds in Oakville through interior photography and video, capturing how cabinetry, finishes, and architectural details come together to shape each space.

For this project, I worked with Barzotti Woodworking to document two custom home builds in Oakville through a combination of photography and video. The focus was on capturing the character and fine details of each space, highlighting how Barzotti’s millwork integrates with the broader architectural design.

The work included both residential interior photography and a short video showcase for one of the homes, creating a set of assets that reflect not only the craftsmanship of each piece, but how the spaces are experienced as a whole.

The scope focused on photographing and filming key areas of each home, with an emphasis on material detail, architectural lines, and the way natural light moves through the space.

The final deliverables included approximately 30 curated images across both homes, along with a short design showcase video produced in both landscape and vertical formats for flexible use across web and social platforms.

"That little video is great - it looks so good! Moving forward I would love to add these to the roster!"

Photographing custom homes like these requires balancing precision with flexibility. While the goal is to clearly represent the design and craftsmanship, the process often involves working within lived-in spaces where small adjustments are made to refine the frame without disrupting how the home is experienced.

Rather than introducing external styling, the approach focused on working with what already existed, repositioning elements where needed to create clarity while maintaining the integrity of the design. This allowed the final images to reflect both the detail of the millwork and the atmosphere of the space as it naturally functions.

The video component followed a similar approach, using slow, intentional movement to guide the viewer through the space. Instead of relying on heavy direction, the focus was on capturing natural light, subtle transitions, and the relationship between materials, creating a piece that complements the still imagery while offering a different way to experience the home.

In post-production, the focus remained on consistency and accuracy, ensuring materials, tones, and lighting conditions were represented faithfully across both photo and video deliverables.

The final images and video were created for Barzotti Woodworking’s marketing, portfolio, and social media use, providing a cohesive set of content that reflects both the craftsmanship of the millwork and how each space is experienced.

By combining photography and video, the project delivers a more complete representation of the homes, supporting both detailed visual documentation and broader storytelling across multiple platforms, from website portfolios to social media and client presentations.

Real experiences create something staged content cannot. When people interact naturally with a space, product, or service, the result is imagery that feels lived in, relatable, and far more meaningful to your audience.
